The executive committee of TC Religion and Literature invites self-nominations for a five-year term on the executive committee beginning January 2026. Here’s a clarifying paragraph from the MLA:

Appointments. Forum executive committees appoint one new member annually to their committees. Members may suggest new committee members by writing or typing in the name of an individual to be considered for appointment in the space reserved for such at the MLA website, by sending a letter to the MLA coordinator of governance naming a potential appointee, or by responding to a solicitation from the executive committee (you may email current forum chair Cynthia Wallace at Wallace [at] stmcollege.ca). Executive committees should solicit suggestions directly from the forums’ members in the forums’ MLA Commons groups. Executive Committee members are encouraged to give due consideration to suggestions from the membership. Before becoming recognized committee members, appointees must accept their appointments; the MLA staff will send the only official notices of appointment.

• Only current MLA members are eligible for appointment.
• Seven convention years must elapse before an individual can serve another term on the same executive committee.
• No member may serve on more than one executive committee at a given time.

Thanks for your consideration!

Dear Professor Cynthia Wallace,
I am responding to your invitation to self-nominate for the position in the
MLA Executive Committee for the forum TC Religion and Literature.
Much of my research has focused on the Virgin of Guadalupe in the Mexican
ballad and the Mexican Christmas plays or Pastorelas.
Thanking you,
