Hello Forum Members!

My name is Dr. Grisel Y. Acosta, and I am the current Chair of the HEP Community Colleges Executive Committee. I hope all of you are well.

We are currently asking for nominees for the MLA Delegate Assembly election that will take place later this year. Folks who would like to represent the HEP Community Colleges forum in the MLA DA should read further.

Each forum has a representative in the Delegate Assembly. These delegates serve for a term of three years. Our current delegate’s term will end in January of 2023. The person elected in 2022 will serve in the assembly from 10 January 2023 through the close of the January 2026 convention (a term of three convention years). You can learn more about the specific requirements by accessing the attached document, “Updated Delegate Assembly Sheet.” Most important to note is that the term of office is three years, meaning elected delegates will be expected to attend the MLA for those three years. One should assume that future MLA meetings will be in person, although this year many of the delegate responsibilities were held virtually for pandemic-related reasons.

We currently have one nominee but we need at least three more. We welcome questions about the position (self-nominations are perfectly fine). Please note that this is an election to become a delegate and running for election does not guarantee the position.
