Sinclair Bell is a classical archaeologist and art historian. He is both Professor of Art History and Presidential Teaching Professor (2021-25) at Northern Illinois University. His current areas of research are: the art and archaeology of the Etruscans; the art and archaeology of the Roman provinces; spectacles in the Roman imperial period; the visual and material evidence for slaves and foreigners in the Roman Empire, especially Aethiopians.
