LLC Luso-Brazilian on MLA Commons 5 years, 6 months ago
Dear all,
As a candidate for the Forum Executive Committee election that goes until December 10, I am writing to quickly introduce myself. I am an assistant professor of Brazilian literature at the University of Chicago working on 20th- and 21st-century Latin American literature with a focus on Brazil. I’ve been writing about Ecocriticism, fiction theory, autobiography/autofiction, and uses of the term sertão in Lusophone cultures, among others. At the LLC Luso-Brazilian, some of my goals are to keep working to expand the presence and visibility of Lusophone cultures in the US, to strengthen the ties between North American and Luso-Brazilian academic communities, and to promote a closer dialogue between writers, translators, and academics. I also support an integrated discussion of the ongoing problems related to academic employment in the US and the recent budgetary cuts faced by Brazilian universities and research agencies, so as to understand how each context affects the other one and hopefully formulate new paths for dealing with these issues.
Obrigada pela atenção!
