About
I am retired from a career of four decades in higher education, almost half of it in academic administration, though I continue to be active in the profession. My research interests concern twentieth-century American and southern literature, film, and photography–with an emphasis on the life and work of Robert Penn Warren. Education

Projects
My latest book project is a literary and visual study of a half dozen examples within the photobook genre during the 1930s and 1940s that were most often illustrated with the Farm Security Agency photographs. Significant examples of these hybrid texts feature writers including James Agee, Sherwood Anderson, and Richard Wright, as well as photographers such as Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, and Gordon Parks.
