Hello, everyone, I am currently seeking input on the mentorship experiences of Graduate students, past and present, for a poster presentation at the CWPA in July. The project is in its infancy, but my partner and I will be looking for responses throughout the year.

Most writing instructors gain their first bit of teaching experience in college writing classrooms during their time as Graduate Teaching Assistants. This can leave new graduate student feeling overwhelmed and unsure of themselves. Professional mentorship has shown to help alleviate these feelings and lead to the development of more competent and confident instructors. For this reason, we are seeking current and former graduate assistants to complete an online survey exploring the kinds of mentorship experiences graduate student are now receiving or have received in the past.

If you are currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant in a college writing classroom or have taught college writing as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the past fifteen years, you are eligible to participate in a 20-minute research survey aimed to identify the experiences GTAs have with receiving mentorship and what, if anything, can be done to improve mentorship opportunities for Graduate Teaching Assistants.
If you are willing to share your experiences with us, the survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/gtamentorship. We appreciate any feedback you can provide.

Please contact either PI, Lisa Bell at lkjones5@ou.edu, or Mandi McRay at Mandi.McRay@ou.edu, or faculty advisor, Dr. Roxanne Mountford at Mountford@ou.edu for more information.

We thank you in advance for offering your perspectives on mentorship.
