About

I am a Professor of English at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, and author of Romantic Revisions in Novels from the Americas, published in the Purdue University Press Comparative Cultural Studies Series. I teach American and contemporary literature as well as advanced composition, professional writing, and business communications. My goal as a teacher is to create real-world learning experiences that motivate students to do their best work and foster development of communication and critical thinking skills. Because of my commitment to empowerment through writing, I serve as director of the Lowcountry Writing Project, a local site of the National Writing Project that fosters writing among teachers in the Charleston area and helps them use writing more effectively in their classrooms. I am also the Vice President of the Margaret Atwood Society

Education

I received my B.A. from Wake Forest University and my M.A. and Ph.D. from Emory University.
