I’m a PhD in linguistics that focuses in a multifactorial analysis of language variation in Ayapa Zoque. This is a critically endangered language spoken by less than 15 elders in the south of Mexico.
The language has been poorly documented and has not yet been described, resulting in a lack of reliable information about the language and its speakers. Moreover, due to the extent of attested language variation, it is very complex to offer a “simple/classic” description of it. Therefore, my research offers a novel solution by tackling the problem from a different angle. I document and analyze the variations, and not the language as a hypothetic system, while offering a multifactorial explanation of these variations.

Currently working on a PhD dissertation at the Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO). The focus of this dissertation is language variation in Ayapa Zoque (ISO 639-3), a critically endangered language spoken by approximately 15 people in the south of Mexico.
