Hayley C. Stefan is a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at the University of Connecticut. Her research focuses on contemporary U.S. literature, comparative ethnic studies, mad and disability studies, digital humanities, and human rights. Her dissertation, “Writing National Tragedies: Racism and Ableism in Contemporary U.S. Literature and Culture,” reads U.S. mourning and memorialization practices through the connective imaginaries of (dis)ability, race, and ethnicity.
