About
Giovanni Minicucci is a Graduate candidate in Hispanic Studies at Syracuse University and Middlebury College where he also teaches Italian and Spanish. He is the coordinator of ITALengNY, with the support of the Italian Consulate in New York, where he has been coordinating a language exchange project between colleges and universities in the United States and Italy for almost four years.
Minicucci graduated with honors from the University of Pescara, Gabriele D’Annunzio, Italy where he studied Translation Studies, Linguistic Mediation, and Intercultural Communication in English and Spanish. He also studied for two academic semesters as an exchange scholar at Nazareth College (NY) and has had several experiences in the languages and linguistics field at American and Canadian universities such as St. John University (NYC, Queens), St. Thomas University (Miami), Occidental College (Los Angeles), and Niagara College (Welland, Ontario). He also graduated from Middlebury College Language Schools with a Master of Arts in Italian Studies.
He is currently the Secretary and Communication Officer for ITACNY: Italian Teacher Association of Central New York. He has presented on Italian, American and Spanish Studies at the MLA Conference 2022 in Washington D.C., the Mediterranean Studies Conferences, the Luci e Ombre Film Conferences 2020 & 2021, 2nd AISNA Graduate Conference hosted the US embassy in Rome, Italy, and many others.
His research interests are SLA (second language acquisition) in Italian and Spanish Studies, Border and Immigration Studies, Italian Medieval Studies, Early Modern Spain, Civil War and Generación del ’27. Education
