Elisa Puntarello is a second year PhD student at the Lumière University Lyon 2 (France) and the University of Salerno (Italy). She conducts a bi-nationally supervised doctoral thesis under the direction of Professor Olivier Bara (Lumière University Lyon 2) and Professor Agnese Silvestri (University of Salerno), the provisional title of her thesis being “Le Républicain de Juillet: étude sociocritique d’un type littéraire” (“The Républicain de Juillet: a Sociocritical Study of a Literary Type”).

Her research interests focus on 19th-century French literature (particularly Romanticism), the relationship between Literature, History and Politics, and the literary representation and symbolisation of revolution, insurrection and the Republic.
