Dear Colleagues in 16th-Century French (with apologies for cross-postings),

FOR THOSE OF YOU GOING TO THE MLA IN NY 2018: We hope that you’ll be able to join us for the 16th-century sessions, the joint session with the medieval forum, and the cash bar with the 17th-century forum—we are really branching out! In addition, you are invited to a dinner for 16th-century scholars (sponsored by the Forum’s Executive Committee – Liz Black, Leah Chang [in absentia] Jan Miernowski, Phillip Usher, and me) on Friday 5 January at 8:45 pm following the cash bar, at Amarone restaurant, just steps from the MLA hotels. All are welcome, including grad students. Please let me know at your early convenience or by December 15 at the latest (cyandell@carleton.edu) if you’ll be able to join us. The semi-private room can accommodate up to 25 people on a first-come, first-reserved basis. Here’s the menu:

FYI, here is a brief recap of the sessions: New Work in Sixteenth-Century Literature and Culture (5 Jan, 8:30 am), Propaganda, Polemic, Persuasion: Changing Media and Modes in Medieval and Renaissance France (6 Jan, 10:15 am), Montaigne in the Twenty-First Century (7 Jan, 8:30 am),
AND the Cash Bar with the 17th-century forum on 5 Jan at 7:15 pm. All meetings are in the Hilton.

I look forward to hearing from you soon if you can join us for the dinner.

    A bientôt, j’espère!
