About
I am a Visiting Assistant Professor of Greek and Roman Studies at Vassar College. I completed my Ph.D. in the combined program in ancient history at Yale University in 2023. I hold bachelors degrees in history and religious studies from West Virginia University (2013), and a master’s degree in history from North Carolina State University (2016).
Broadly construed, my research examines the relationship between religion, law, and society in the later Roman empire. I am presently preparing a book proposal for a monograph based on my dissertation, in which I argue that “religion” became an increasingly important facet of Roman legal identity in the third, fourth, and fifth centuries and examine consequences of this development for the empire’s subjects.
My teaching interests are wide-ranging. I offer courses in ancient studies, in particular Roman history and Latin language. I am excited to offer courses in ancient religion, Roman law, and Greek and Roman sexuality.
