The MLA Global Hispanophone Forum invites article submissions for our inaugural “Global Hispanophone Article Prize,” to be awarded at the 2022 MLA Conference in Washington D.C.As our field moves more incisively beyond the literary and cultural productions of Spain, the Americas, and even their Atlantic interconnectedness, we see the need to highlight the still-marginalized areas of Spanish-language cultural production in Africa and Asia: in particular, Equatorial Guinea, the Maghreb, Western Sahara, and the Philippines. Thus, this award seeks to support and promote the work of scholars working in the field of Global Hispanophone Studies, writ large. We encourage early career scholars to submit a nomination and we happily accept self-nominations from all scholars. The competition is open to articles published in academic peer-reviewed journals from January 1st 2018 to December 31st, 2020. The prize will include a certificate. Please email your nomination to GlobalHispanoMLA@gmail.com by November 7, 2021 with the subject heading \”Article Award Submission\” and include:
Name of Nominee
PDF of the Nominated Article
Article submissions will be reviewed by a selection of members of the Forum executive committee. The winner will be notified before the MLA Conference and the award will be presented during the Forum membership meeting at the MLA. Nominees must be members of the MLA Global Hispanophone Forum at the time of submission (https://www.mla.org/user/).
