    Dear Translation Studies scholars,

The CFPs for our Translation Studies Forum have been posted, and I repeat them here for your convenience and invite you to send proposals or abstracts:

    (1) Translatability and World Literature: How best to acknowledge translation as a mediating factor in world literature? Incommensurability vs. “untranslatability”; visibility/invisibility of translation; problem of “instrumental” understandings of translation; problems w/the term “global”; translating for world readerships/polysystems; or related issues. Deadline for submissions: Friday, 15 March 2019; send proposals to Anne Coldiron, at aebc@st-andrews.ac.uk or acoldiron@fsu.edu.

    (2) Rethinking Translation, Origination, Originality: Beyond models of translation as secondary; revaluing translations as “originals”; validity of “originality” as literary norm; inverting assumed relation between translation-pairs (Borges: “El original es infiel a la traducción”); beyond “transfer”/equivalence; rethinking translator’s authorial roles. Deadline for submissions: Friday, 15 March 2019; send proposals to Anne Coldiron, at aebc@st-andrews.ac.uk or acoldiron@fsu.edu.

    Thanks and best wishes,

    A. E. B. Coldiron
