    Please consider submitting your paper to the following panels organized for the Luso-Brazilian forum for the MLA 2023. Presentations in English or Portuguese will be accepted. Proposals are due by March 15, 2022.

    Black and Indigenous Literatures in Portuguese. Papers examining literature written in Portuguese by people of African and Indigenous descent. Critical analyses exploring the broad implications of their literary texts for the questions of identities are welcome. 200-word abstract + short bio. Contact: Felipe Fanuel.

    Labor in Lusophone Literatures and Cultures.  Papers exploring labor in Luso-Afro-Brazilian literatures and cultures. Possible topics include labor movements, intersections of race, class, and gender vis-à-vis work, and conditions of artistic and academic work, among others. 200-word abstract + short bio.     Surrealism in Portuguese. Papers exploring the relevance and ramifications of Surrealism today. Analyses engaging multi-art and comparative approaches in celebration of the centenary of Mário-Henrique Leiria (1923-1980) and Mário Cesariny (1923-2006) are welcome. 200-word abstract + short bio.  Contact: Tania Martuscelli.
