The RCWS Literacy Studies forum committee invites 250-word proposals addressing the MLA 2024 conference theme of celebration: joy and sorrow, with a focus on self-care literacies. What are the varied ways that instructors, artists, students, scholars, writers and readers enact and enable literacies of self-care? How do such literacies commemorate, celebrate, and un/settle hope and struggle across contexts?
We hope panelists can speak to this theme broadly, as it applies across social settings and institutions, media, and modalities. We particularly encourage junior scholars and graduate students to submit. Email proposals or questions to Lizzie Hutton at huttoneb@miamioh.edu by March 1, 2023. Proposals will be reviewed by the RCWS Literacy Studies Committee, and notifications will be sent by the end of the month.
