I have spent the last seven years co-building and co-editing a journal–Literacy in Composition Studies–so that scholars interested in Literacy Studies would have a platform for sharing their work. I am motivated by a desire to broaden the conversation about Literacy Studies and to sponsor interchanges with related fields. I would be thrilled to get a chance to work on your behalf in the Literacy Studies EC Forum.

Literacy Studies is, for me, the heart of everything we do in language and literary fields. Literacy Studies helps us recognize how language carries ideology and how identities are shaped by and in response to the ideological landscape embedded in literacy activities.

My research focuses on how cultural narratives about literacy inhibit and promote particular manifestations of gendered identities.
