    Hi everyone,

    My name is Alan Gravano, and I am running for the Italian American Discussion Group. I sat in on the meeting last year in Austin and presented a paper on teaching Italian American beat poets. Yesterday, my paper on Ferlinghetti and di Prima challenging the conventional definitions of multi-ethnic literature was accepted by the Beat Studies, and I will be presenting at The Louisville Conference in February 2017.

    I would like to increase our presence at MLA and other conferences. I am motivated and would welcome the opportunity to continue to contribute to Italian American Studies in another official capacity. I plan on attending the Philadelphia conference. I look forward to seeing everyone there (and some of you sooner in Long Beach).
