Shaw Symposium, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, CAN, 15-17 August 2019
The International Shaw Society and the Shaw Festival invite proposals to present new critical or creative research at the Sixteenth Annual Summer Shaw Symposium. Successful proposals will offer a focused analysis of any aspect of Shaw’s work, or that of his contemporaries featured in the 2019 Shaw Festival season, which notably includes productions of Tennessee Williams’s The Glass Menagerie and Mae West’s Sex. However, talks that advance our understanding of the Shaw plays running at the Festival this year (Man and Superman and Getting Married) will be especially welcome.
Generous funding for graduate students and emerging scholars is available through Bryden Scholarships and ISS Travel Grants. See the ISS website at http://www.shawsociety.org for information about grant applications.
Please send an abstract of no more than 300 words, emphasizing the research and/or creative value of your proposed talk, and a 2-page CV to Professor Jen Buckley at firstname.lastname@example.org 1 May 2019. Feel free to send any relevant questions to Buckley or ISS President Bob Gaines at email@example.com.
