My name is Tekla Babyak (PhD, Musicology, Cornell, 2014)—I’m an independent scholar and disability activist with multiple sclerosis. As an MLA Delegate Assembly Member representing Disability in the Profession, I’m committed to fighting against ableism in academia.
To that end, I’m writing to let you know about my upcoming virtual talk, titled “Invitational Pedagogy: Bringing in Disabled Guest Speakers.” It will take place on Tuesday, August 22 at 7:20pm Central Time, in Zoom Room Two, as part of the online H-Net Teaching Conference, “Critical Conversations: Teaching and Creating Community in Difficult Times.” Free registration (required by August 20) and the conference program are available here. Also, I’ve attached my abstract in case you might be interested in taking a look.
It would be wonderful to see members of TC Disability Studies at the H-Net Conference if you’re able to be there!
