The LLC Chicana and Chicano forum promotes scholarship on and the teaching of Chicana/o literature and encourages conversation about the relationship between Chicana/o and US Latina/o studies.

But what, exactly, is an MLA forum supposed to do?

MLA forums—formerly divisions and discussion groups—encompass the scholarly and professional concerns of the association. They promote scholarly and professional activities within their areas of concern.

Each forum is governed by an elected executive committee whose five members serve terms of five convention years. A convention year begins after the close of one convention and continues through the close of the next; it is named for the convention that concludes the year.

You may reach any one of the executive committee members at any time via MLACommons.

Bucknell University’s English Department seeks to hire a visiting assistant professor of Multi-Ethnic Literature of the US. The one-year renewable position will begin in August 2022. PhD in English or related field is desired by the start date; candidates who have successfully defended their dissertation but do not yet have the degree in hand may also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching, and will contribute to the Literary Studies Program’s Race and Literature Concentration. We are especially interested in areas of research and teaching that build upon the Literary Studies program’s strengths in race and ethnic studies; race and empire; women’s writing; gender, queer, and sexuality studies; intersectionality and literature; and environmental or medical humanities.

There is a 3/3 teaching load, and members of the department teach introductory as well as intermediate- and advanced-level courses. We seek an outstanding faculty member with clear evidence of commitment to undergraduate teaching and research, student learning, diversity, and inclusive pedagogy. The successful candidate will contribute to Bucknell’s commitment to the liberal arts through teaching courses that emphasize critical writing and are part of the college’s core curriculum.

Bucknell University, an Equal Opportunity Employer, welcomes applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in higher education. We believe that students learn best in a diverse, inclusive community and we are therefore committed to Bucknell’s efforts to create a climate that fosters the growth and development of a diverse student body.

Application materials include a Cover Letter, CV, two sample syllabi, three letters of recommendation, and a Diversity Statement (one-page statement describing how commitment to diversity is present in the candidate’s teaching, research, and mentoring). Applications will only be accepted through Bucknell\’s online Jobs@Bucknell submission portal.

Review of applications will begin June 20, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled.

Questions about the position can be directed to the Chair of the English Department, Virginia Zimmerman (vlzimmer@bucknell.edu).
