The LLC 20th- and 21st-Century French Forum Executive Committee is seeking (self-)nominations from our membership for one colleague willing to serve a term of five convention years (from January 2024 through the close of the January 2029 convention) as member of the executive committee. Responsibilities of the committee members also include serving as secretary of the forum in the third year of that term and as chair in the fourth year. Among their items of business, the committee is responsible for arranging up to four sessions at the MLA annual convention (two of them are guaranteed). These panels or roundtables can be co-organized with other forums and allied organizations. The executive committee carries on the major part of its business at a closed committee meeting held during the convention, and thus members who agree to stand for election to an executive committee will normally attend the convention. In addition, the executive committee may conduct their business through correspondence initiated by the committee’s chair at various times throughout the year. Committee members should therefore be prepared to remain in contact with one another on a regular basis. Periodically the MLA will arrange a meeting at the convention for forum executive committees to discuss governance issues and convention programming. All committee members must have a primary affiliation with the forum.
