    Dear Colleagues,

The Italian Program at the University of Arkansas would like to invite you to a lecture by Prof. Jane Tylus (Yale University), “What Does it Take to Make a Saint? Medieval Women, Yesterday and Today,” on Monday, March 22, at 6:00pm CST.

All are welcome! Please register in advance for the event Register here. All registered participants will receive a Zoom link before the event.

Prof. Tylus’s talk will consider several saintly women of late medieval Italy, Clare of Assisi, Catherine of Siena, and Bridget of Sweden, and ask how their interventions into the religious, social, and political life of their day were seen by their contemporaries and how they are interpreted today. Of special interest in assessing their relevance for the 21st century are two recent works on Catherine and Clare by novelist Dacia Mariani, one of Italy’s best-known writers.

Many thanks to the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program for co-sponsoring this event.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. D\’Eugenio at deugeni@uark.edu.

We look forward to seeing you.

    Best regards,

The Italian Program at The University of Arkansas
