Beginning this year, the MLA Program Committee has updated the way Forum Executive Committees are created. In the past, the executive committee and the forum membership nominated potential candidates, who were then narrowed to two in the spring, and voted between in the fall election cycle. Now, to streamline the process and to avert the disappointment of colleagues accepting a nomination and then losing an election, the executive committee has been asked to seek nominations here on MLA Commons. Based on these nominations, the forum executive committee will select the new incoming member at our annual meeting this Saturday, 8 January. Therefore, anyone wishing to submit a nomination (or self-nomination) is welcome to do so by emailing me at bob_hudson@byu.edu by Friday, 7 January. Please bear in mind that only current MLA members are eligible and that appointments to an executive committee entail a five-year commitment to attend the annual MLA meeting and participate in forum meetings.  –Bob Hudson, 2022 Chair, 16c French Executive Committee
