- Abstract:
- Photobooks in the Museum: Shifting Paradigms The photobook has witnessed a marked expansion over the past two decades. A rich ecosystem has developed that includes significant growth in the realm of publishing, festivals, awards, and exhibitions. Art museums such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston are playing a role in this resurgence by strategically collecting, providing enhanced access and discovery, developing public programs, and exhibiting photobooks and other photographically illustrated materials throughout the institution. Opportunities for future promotion of the photobook as a distinct genre will also be addressed. Presented as part of Photographs as Cultural Objects in Library Ecosystems panel.
