- This paper and select bibliography give a brief summary of the lives and works of seven American women pioneers of ethnomusicology: Alice Cunningham Fletcher, Frances Densmore, Helen Roberts, Natalie Curtis Burlin, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Sidney Robertson Cowell and Laura Boulton. It describes the state of research and publication for each of these pioneers (up to 2003) and suggests further research to document their achievements.
