- Abstract:
- Illustrated script of a stage play created by the author, a peace dialogue among an American Christian, an Israeli Jew, a Saudi Arabian Muslim, and a Japanese Buddhist. It draws from the conflict resolution process pioneered by Johan Galtung and practiced in Peace Studies classes taught by the author and others at Osaka Jogakuin University. It shows how religions have influenced the laws and moral values of their societies. It was originally performed by four of the author's first year students at a campus event. This peace dialogue could be useful as a role play project or group presentation for teaching English as a Foreign Language or English native speaking secondary school students, to study world religions, law, values, or peace.
- Notes:
- There are footnotes with English-Japanese translations by the author of words and phrases beyond basic English vocabulary. A 7-minute podcast of the play with the students reciting this script is Episode 17 at the Japancasting channel with the same title, if readers would like to search for it and combine reading with listening.
