- Abstract:
- Brasilia, the first Modernist World Heritage site, has been entitled to its own hagiography in Brazilian and international scholarship. In this paper we investigated how the discourses on the city can be understood in terms of a tripartite mythical structure comprising a tale of origins embodied in its design, that of a heroic construction, and a millennial discourse around its development. As evidenced in the city’s central bus station, this narrative opposes an originating void and the persistence of this emptiness throughout the urban evolution.
