    Abstract:
This article that J.R.R. Tolkien's *The Silmarillion (1977) should be read as a unified text with a single narrator, despite what we know of Christopher Tolkien's editorial work and his father's method of composition. A unified text not only smooths out many of the *Silmarillion's* "flaws" but also promotes the major themes we know Tolkien to have been interested in.
