- This chapter compares Plutarch's Sertorius to other Late-Republican Lives (Lucullus, Sulla, Pompey, Caesar) to explore Sertorius' character, and especially to establish the context for his decision to withdraw from civil war and to attempt to live peacefully in Spain.
