- Abstract:
- In this essay a critique of James Joyce’s great novel is sought through a series of interpretations of crucial points in each chapter of the work. This reading aims to rediscover the beating heart of its heterogeneous form, capable of incorporating the most varied styles without losing anything in its determination by the social content, founded on the penetration of the logic of capital in a semi-peripheral and dependent society, with characters shaped and mobilized by the process, in a kind of exuberant constructive mimesis of a miserable life basis, which only in its desolation and negative identification can give rise to any desire to break with that which is the case.
