- Abstract:
- The course syllabus I used for History of the English language in Fall 2018 (undergraduates and teacher ed. graduate students). This course combines historical overview, sociolinguistics, language and IPA labs and exercises, a variety of short written assignments focusing on analytical and comparative linguistic approaches, and an independent research project; graduate students added an additional lesson plan assignment for their teaching portfolio. (Thanks to Stephen Hopkins at Indiana University, who gave me the idea to supplement the textbook with Seth Lehrer's Inventing English.)
